CEEFAX Recreation – A Blast from the Past

When I moved to England in 1984, ceefax and teletext was everywhere.

They send short codes which locally your TV would change into the graphics. The teletext was the online version. It was quite clever and I can explain more about the lookup tables later if you wanted to know more.

One step further was HOBS (Home and Office Banking System) where I did my banking, bought train tickets, sent/received both a type of email & also telexes, could order books, take classes and see what was on TV.

This was all 40 years ago!

As sent to me by a British IT friend

Perhaps this brings back Memories?

It sure does, as I usually left the head line page running (or the Teletext/HOBS equivalent) when studying or reading.  Sort of a DX Cluster of Spots but for the news.
