The Oldest Television TV still in service, a 75 year old Marconi EMI Set

This is very neat – the world’s oldest working TV set! A brief write-up at Southgate Radio News caught my eye.

Marconi EMI model 706 904. The Oldest television still in service. Since 1937. Yes 1937. This old 5 inch television 405 lines, and combined 3 band radio has been preserved and still working well after 72 years. See it working. This set was purchased just after the trial period between the Marconi EMI system 405 line, and the John Logie Baird Mechanical system 220 lines on alternate weeks.

No idea what a “TV year” is in human years, though one would guess something more towards a “Dog Year” than “People Year.”

Rather think this TV is human equal to at least a 150 year old man!
